Er zijn tal van gedenkwaardige momenten in Love Actually (en niet allemaal om de juiste redenen tegenwoordig), maar acteur Bill Nighy had misschien wel de beste regel van de hele film.

De Britse acteur speelde de oudere rocker Billy Mack in de kerstromcom van 2003 en er is een bepaalde regel die hem overal heeft gevolgd. Letterlijk.

In een nieuw interview met GQ magazine zegt Bill dat de scene en Billy’s serieus louche advies zo bekend is geworden dat hij er nog regelmatig aan herinnerd wordt door volslagen vreemden op de meest onverwachte plaatsen.

“Ik ging ooit midden in de nacht, rond 4 uur ‘s ochtends, door de immigratie van Canada naar Amerika, en er was niemand in de immigratiehal behalve ik en er was een man en ik ging verder,” herinnerde Bill zich.

“En terwijl ik verder liep, zei hij ‘hey kinderen kopen geen drugs…’ dat klopt de man van de douane… ‘koop geen drugs, word een rockster en mensen zullen je vertellen dat ze gratis weggeven. Heb ik gelijk? Heb ik gelijk?’ Ik had zoiets van, drugs? Nee, ik heb geen medicijnen. Dus dat bracht me in Amerika!

Hij voegde eraan toe: “Als ik sterf, als ik een overlijdensbericht krijg, zal het zijn als: ‘Hé kinderen, koop geen drugs. Word een rockster, mensen geven ze je gratis’.
